Rudra : An overview
Rudra is an autonomous flying aerial vehicle capable of traversing through undefined and dynamically varying environment. It uses APM 2.5 for maintaining stable flight during its task. The Intel Atom board on the vehicle provides it an extra processing power for fast and flexible reaction. The high level controller (Intel Atom Board) and the flight controller (APM 2.5) are connected to each other via Serial Communication using Arduino Mega ADK. The frame of the vehicle is taken from 3d Robotics. Rudra is currently running on four Emax MT-2213 920 kv brushless DC outrunner motors which enable it to carry a payload of about 1kg safely. The battery used is Turnigy nanotech 3.3 (3300mAh liPo) which balances the weight reduction and time of flight requirements very effectively.
